We Are Hiring: Chair in Crime & Security
The Cardiff University Crime and Security Institute is seeking to recruit a Professor with an international reputation for conducting impactful, innovative and inter-disciplinary research on crime and/or security issues. During first three years of appointment the post will be primarily research focused with minimal teaching duties.
The Crime and Security Research Institute was established in August 2015 with a multimillion pound investment to establish a challenge focused approach to helping to solve some of society’s most pressing crime and security problems, utilizing insights and evidence drawn from across the academic disciplines. The Institute is organized around three of Cardiff’s leading research teams: the Universities’ Police Science Institute; the Violence Research Group; and the Data and Knowledge Engineering Group, together with a wider community of scholars from across Cardiff’s three main Colleges.
The appointee will provide inspirational leadership in crime and security research, working with the established senior team of Directors to design and deliver pioneering research programmes with international reach and significance.
We have strong existing partnerships with external agencies, including IBM, College of Policing, South Wales Police, and the Metropolitan Police Service. The Institute has already had a number of significant funding successes with current projects running in North America, Europe and Australia, with a value of around £3 million. The new Chair will help to build on these relationships, as well as forge new partnerships to enhance the profile of our research.
